Hi. I’m JulieAnne, and despite my best efforts, I’m not a World Cup champion.
But I’d like to think that I’m some other pretty cool things…a former NCAA Division I soccer player, the Director of High School Counseling and Social and Emotional Learning for one of the top independent high schools in the midwest, a runner who hasn’t missed a day in nine-years, a podcaster, and a long-time soccer coach. Yet, when it comes to raising my soccer-loving daughter, I’m a rookie like everyone else!
Which is why I started this podcast.
The life of a soccer player can be amazing, but it’s not without it’s challenges. So, I hope you will join me as I talk to professional athletes, health and well-being experts, exercise scientists and coaches to uncover the best ways for young girls to use their soccer dreams to fuel a lifetime of on-field success and wellness.
I hope you enjoy! And please, send me your questions and feedback.
Yours in soccer and health!
JulieAnne
Why Listen to She Dreams in Goals?
Soccer is awesome (obviously!) and these conversations are fun, incredibly informative, and a great way to share the soccer journey with friends, teammates, coaches and family members.
Girls’ mental health in the United States is at a crisis point, and sports participation and the associated connections are primary protective factors that can support a lifetime of wellness.
Through this podcast I hope to reach girls during a critical development stage and help them grow their passion for soccer while also learning skills that support lifetime wellbeing.
As a parent and coach myself, I know how difficult it can be to engage with my daughter and players, so my aim is to make collaborating (players, guardians, coaches) for health easy and fun!
Meet your co-host, Elizabeth!
In addition to being my daughter and a major inspiration behind this podcast, Elizabeth is a player in the Racing Louisville Youth Academy and Kentucky Olympic Development Program, and helped with the creation, design and hosting of She Dreams in Goals from the very beginning!
